Karolina Muchova (@1.66) vs Su-Wei Hsieh (@2.25)

Our Prediction:

Karolina Muchova will win

Karolina Muchova – Su-Wei Hsieh Match Prediction | 28-08-2019 11:00

Her draw wasnt one of the luckiest as she had to play the 17-year-old Polish prodigy Iga witek (a finalist in Lugano two weeks ago) in the first round. Muchova managed to pull through, aided by the fact that this was the Poles second match of the day. In the second round, that little bit of extra help was once again very much needed, as Muchova pulled through Jennifer Brady in a third set tie-breaker. She was also guided by a crowd of vivacious Czech spectators.

Both players are relatively new to the tour and no one knows their game to the fullest extent yet.

Teichmann had a very tough qualifying section with the likes of Denis Allertova and Beatriz Haddad Maia on her way to the main draw. Beating them in straight sets was a good sign but the real test came in the second round of the main event, when Teichmann was down a set against a two-time Grand Slam champion Svetlana Kuznetsova. The Spanish-born Swiss player has recently captured some good results in ITF World Tennis Tour events and managed to bring that momentum to Czechia. Thats right, Jil Teichmann has already played seven matches here as Prague is one of these tournaments that require the qualifiers to win three matches in order to advance to the main draw. She absolutely destroyed Tamara Korpatsch and Barbora Strycova on her way to the finals (Strycova won six points in the second set). Coming back from behind against such an accomplished player really allowed the Swiss to play her game with confidence.

During the victory, Karolna Muchov won 89% of her service games while breaking Stosurs serve on 4 occasions. It was a comfortable win as Karolna Muchov beat Samantha Stosur. Karolna Muchov is still very new on the WTA tour and while her performances in 2019 have been decent, she lacks experience which could cost her in this match as she is play a very accomplished opponent. Looking at her opponent, Karolna Muchov won her opening round fixture in straight sets.

It was a dominant display by Hsieh as she only allowed her opponent to win 2 games in the entire match. It was an impressive opening round performance by Hsieh Su-wei has she won in straight sets against Aliaksandra Sasnovich. During the win, Hsieh Su-wei returned serve exceptionally well as she won 59% of her receiving points which allowed her to break Sasnovichs serve on 5 occasions. With a good opening round win and a great relationship with this venue, Hsieh Su-wei will be confident as she enters this match. Hsieh Su-wei won the doubles event at the Qatar Open in 2014 so she should be very comfortable playing at this venue.

Throughout this season, she has been absolutely brilliant with three titles already under her belt. There is no reason why she may succumb to the rising Muchova. In this battle of the Karolina, we can most definitely expect the number 3 seed to come out on the top. She has the experience and more importantly, that level of consistency needed to perform at this stage of the tournament.

Hsieh has accomplished much more in recent times when compared to Karolna Muchov. Taking everything into consideration, I am picking Hsieh Su-wei to win this match. Furthermore, Hsieh looked much more fluent and dominant in her opening round win. As it stands, Hsieh Su-wei is the stronger player and I see her winning this match and making the third round.
